GENERAL

"Chi. My name is Chi." She said and waited for him.

"Pretty name." He taps his lip. "What did she mean by one week?"

"One week to learn all the cards, perfect your swing, learn to send cards, card positions, offensive and defensive positions, left and right hand practice and at least a few matches. Don't worry though I have everything planned out." She began counting them off on her fingers.

"Karuta is so difficult," He sighs. "Does she want to go against me or something? Because if she does, I'm not going to."

"Why would you not want to play her! I would love to play her!" She said, how could he not play her!

"No man goes to a battle they know they will lose." He pats her head. "You'll understand one day."

She nodded. She opened the door and sat in the corner. "First we'll talk about card placement."

"Okay." He sits in front of her.

"This is what I personally do. You should always put like cards next to each other. Say, one of the three 'Chi' cards are read I can all take them in one sweep without worrying about making faults. Always put one syllable cards in the stronger corner of your set. Of course there are hundreds of ways to set up cards, there are also different set ups. Some people use weird set ups, its usually the most skilled that do it weirdly."

Hibiki lets this information sink in. He begins visualizing what she meant. He smiles and places the cards in his own order. It was completley random, yet Hibiki saw the pattern inside of it.

She watched him, it was random, but she could tell there must've been some type of a pattern. He would be fine with that set up. "Now for offensive you always attack your opponent's side, taking as many of their cards as possible." She wanted to tell him one style so he could try it and then try another.

Hibiki nods, processing more information as he creates strategies in his head.

"Defense is where you protect your cards but do not attack the opponents cards." She said and showing him different blocking techniques.

Hibiki nods. He tests them out himself.

She watches, his swings were pretty good but seemed to be lacking a little. His form was good, but he needed to support his swing some how.

Hibiki yawns. Damn it. He stayed up to late memorizing. Otherwise he would've been awesome at this. He suddenly got an idea. "Do you guys serve coffee?"

"Downstairs they do but Sensei carries extra." She walked over to the big man and asked for a cup of coffee. He nodded handed her some and she walked back with it.

"Thanks." He grabs it and downs it in one gulp.

She nods. "Can you pay attention now?" She smiled at him sweetly.

Hibiki's eyes widen. "I was never not paying attention. I needed this to get to my full physical capabilities." He demonstrates by doing a perfect swing.

She clapped. "Now let's have you do a match." The last match had ended and she began speaking to sensei who pointed out his opponent.

"Sure...." Already? Was he ready?

She brought the teenager near Hibiki. "This is your opponent." She said and pointed at him. He was rather large and stood at 5 ft 11 ins. He gave Hibiki an evil look. "He's class A." She said and left him there with the large boy.

"Sup?" Hibiki smiles at him and waves.

He doesn't say anything and just starts shuffling the cards.
