Kenta aka Haruto pulls his headphones off and places them around his neck. The library was going to close soon. He shrugs. He would continue at his house. Thunder needed food anyways.
It was the beginning of summer, and the end of the last year of Haruto's high school years. He now had as much time to himself as he wanted, seeing as his future was taken care of. So why focus on it when you can focus on the present. He stands up and gathers his stuff, which wasn't much- just a wireless mouse and the headphones around his neck. He leaves the library, going towards the beach. He liked it, seeing as it was empty and quiet. He smiles, barely but it was there, as he takes off his shoes. He walks towards his house, which was on the far side of the beach, away from the public area. However, it would take 30 minutes to reach his house, so anyone could walk up to him. He looked like a little kid after all, and he wasn't that strong.

Charlotte was wringing salt water out of her hair. Today had been a wonderful day for surfing. She was wearing one of her favorite bikinis that allowed her the most movement on the waves. She stuck her board pointing towards the sky in the sand and leaned against it. She looked out at the calm ocean. Wow it was beautiful. She tucked some of her long red hair behind her ear.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a young boy walking in her direction. He looked a little young to be on his own. She thought about asking him if he was lost and if he needed help finding his way home.

Haruto glances at a girl in a bikini. Well, it was a beach. He walks faster though. IT was getting dark and Thunder was hungry.

Charlotte spoke up. "Hey, kid, are you alright? You aren't lost are you?" She got up and tucked her board under her arm.

Crap! Play it cool. Haruto looks at her with the most apathetic face he could muster, which was pretty damn good. "Miss, I'm going home. I know where I live." She looked like she was n her mid twenties. She had every right to call him a kid.

She nods. "I see... Well, I have to head home too, and it's this way, so would you mind if I walked with you for a moment?" She really saw no harm in it. He sounded a little older than he looked, in her opinion, but still maybe early teens? Just so young looking.

All signs said no, but he didn't want to appear rude. "Alright." He continues walking.

They walked in silence for a while. Charlotte, not the one to be a people person, could sense this kid wasn't a big people person either.

"So, did you recently move here with your parents?"

"I live alone." Which was true, since people didn't count Thunder as a living companion.

"Oh... Well then how old are you?" She was genuinely curious now. There was no way a young kid such as himself could manage to live on his own unless he was older...

"I'm 18. And I'm guessing you're 25 or 26?" Haruto doesn't look at her.

Charlotte nodded, a bit surprised.

"I'm 26... And you definitely don't look 18, no offense. You are very perceptive though. That's a rare trait in people, especially people your age."

He shrugs. "I'm used to be called a kid. And when you're like me, you have to be perceptive, otherwise you don't get around in this world." Haruto sees his house. "That's mine." He points at it.

Charlotte looks over at his house and the one adjacent to it. "Oh, well it happens that that is my house." She points at the adjacent house that has a fair stretch of land between the two. "It's odd that I've never run into you before. But oh well." she shrugged. She started up a beaten path towards her door.

"If you ever need something you can come talk to me any time at all!" she called over her shoulder.

Haruto just waves at her and walks to his door, sliding it open. He takes out the dog food as Thunder runs up to him, dog bowl in mouth. He pours the food in before going to his dining room, covering his ears with his headphones. He opens the laptop lid and logs on to SMITE. "Now lets continue...."
~Time Skip~
The sun rises just as Haruto finishes killing the last monster. He sighs, moving the headphones back to his neck. The undersides of his eyes were gray. "I was up all night again...."

Charlotte scratched her head and went outside. Gosh the morning was pretty. She quickly changed into a swim suit and went out to the water with her board. She stretched and stood still, watching the waves like she was a predator stalking prey.

Haruto stands up and walks towards the door. He was barefoot again. Every morning he would walk on the beach. Which was he he planned to do now. He slides the door open and walks towards the beach.

Charlotte slightly turned her head towards a sound from behind her. She still kept her eyes out at the water. Was that the boy?

Haruto makes sure to keep himself away from the water. He sees the girl from yesterday out of the corner of his eye, but doesn't say anything to her.

Charlotte sighs. "I should have known that the waves would be gone already." She turned at made eye contact with the boy. She flashes him a friendly smile and waves.

Haruto waves slightly, face devoid of expression. He walks towards the library, forgetting about his lack of shoes.

She ditches her board and runs over to the boy. He was kind of cute, in that younger kid kind of way. "Hey there, um..." She paused hoping that he'd fill in his name.

"Hasegawa." It felt weird using his surname after not using it for years. He had been using the name Haruto, his screen name, for years. But he wasn't going to tell her that. "And you are?"

"Charlotte. Charlotte Gray. It's nice to meet you."

Haruto doesn't say anything and continues his walk. Don't get close to anyone.
