Valentinus' Day

Its time to get up Valentinus.

He stirred in his sleep, waving a hand dismissively at the nothingness.

Get up Valentinus.

He groans and swims out of the next he built for himself, rubbing at his temples he opens his eyes, the room was empty. He made his way to the bath chamber and brushed his fangs. Hygiene was important. He looked into the mirror, inspecting his scales, he still had trouble recognizing that as his own face. He scowled at it sullenly, then takes in a deep breath, and begins to grin.

He descends lower into his aquatic tower, and investigates the prospects of having a bit of lunch. He grabs some clams and things and starts to break them open to devour the nourishing organisms inside, he even finds a deep sea pearl "How lucky for me."

"Maybe I'll go see her today." He caught himself speaking out loud, and not just that but also saying some frankly pathetic things. He put the pearl in his pocket and went into his clothing bathysphere, it was dry in this one so he transitioned to his human shape, long flowing robes gushed out from around him, and he started to slip out of them.

He looked in the mirror and reduced his age appearance somewhat, just two years, to think in three years he would need to start making himself look older, humans were so strange, but they did make some wonderful things in their short lifespans.

He now picked out a few garments from his collection, soft orange cargo shorts and a black shirt, then some flip flops. Now he looked like the human known as Karl Valentine, who was a little shy, and had an unrequited crush on a certain target.

He returned to his true shape and slipped back into the water. He left the lonely tower and went to take a swim, for the exercise. And because the pain drove him. He drifted through the empty city, ruined and abandoned, it had been upward of four hundred years since another followed its currents. He arrived at the massively overpopulated cemetery, and went to the only non crowded plot, where there were two graves, one was smaller than the other. Both had been eroded till illegible, but he knew exactly what was written on them. He laid down, trying to be closer to them.

Some time later he was awoken by one of his servitors, funny little creatures, they were quite intelligent but also exceedingly dull, they did what they were told, but were terrible conversationalists, actually they didn't like being treated as an equal, they were servants, it was in their magic dna.

He listened to the wretched creature for some time before heading for the little door in the basement that lead to the little door in his apartment. He opened the door and entered the magic hallway, and closed the door behind him, the tunnel was full of water and completely dry at the same time. He changed into his human form, and touched a rune on the wall
